The outdoor event will distribute helpful resources, school supplies as well as health screenings to provide relief during the current financial downturn.
Sun Valley, Ca (September 23, 2022) –Serra Medical Group announced today they will distribute 1000 free backpacks donated by Health Net at their Community Health and Resource Fair. The event is scheduled for October 22nd from 10am to 3pm taking place at the Sun Valley location. The event will be headlined by the popular music band, La Sonora Dinamita.
Serra Medical Group serves a predominately Latino community which is facing very specific health and financial issues during the current inflation crisis. Latinos, along with other communities of color, are disproportionately harmed by the economic fallout of inflation.
According to the Pew Research Center, Hispanic Americans face a number of challenges when it comes to access to health care and medical treatments. Overall, Hispanic adults are less likely than other Americans to have health insurance and to receive preventative medical care.
“Helping communities thrive is our mission and we hope our Health Resource Fair will support the families in our community access preventative medical care and receive free back to school supplies,” said Senthil Durairaj, Administrator of Serra Medical Group.
The event will be partnering various non-profit organizations such as MEND which will provide resources on food pantries, utility assistance and housing information. Additional attendance will be from Panorama City Chamber of Commerce alongside various vendors.
The event is intended to create a family-friendly event with the Mariachi Tesoro de San Fernando, recipient of National Arts a Humanities Awards presented by Michele Obama performing, Ballet Folklorico Mexico Azteca, raffle prizes and the presence of our local and state representatives helping to pass out resources and meet their constituents
